History of Bed & Breakfast

The concepts of Bed & Breakfast it self was first introduced in England in the 1940's, after World War II. It began when American soldiers who were waiting for their turn to return home looking for a place to stay. Because lodging was extremely difficult at the time, a housewife offered her house as a place to rest.

During their stay the soldier enjoyed the traditional ambiance of the house. The owner of the house was also content because they got paid in return for lending their beds and providing breakfast to the soldiers. Since then Bed & Breakfast concept has has grew rapidly all over the world. In Germany you can find Bed & Breakfast in the name of ZImmer Frei or in Italy as Pensiones. Today, an average of 40% of tourist in England use Bed & Breakfast.
